Hopkins named head baseball coach at SHS

Sikeston R-6 School District announced on Wednesday Josh Hopkins will be the next head baseball coach for Sikeston High School.

The district began the task of searching for a new baseball coach after the resignation of current head coach rett Kolons. The district held interviews with students, parents, staff, and administration to help in the selection process.

“I am beyond thankful to be hired as the next head baseball coach at Sikeston High School,” Hopkins said. “There are many mentors and colleagues that have helped me through my journey as an educator and coach, and to those people I will always be grateful. Most importantly, I want to thank God for this opportunity and my family for supporting me and my love of baseball.”

His experience includes working 16 years in physical education: five years at Palmyra Elementary, two years at Carrollton Elementary and nine years at Sikeston R-6.

“Sikeston Baseball has an incredible foundation in place, and I am excited to continue to be a part of such a proud tradition and rich culture,” Hopkins said. “I look forward to what the future holds for Bulldog Nation.”
