The Sikeston R-6 Board of Education recognized two seniors as the Senior High Stand Out Students of the Month for September during its regular monthly meeting Sept. 14 at the high school cafeteria.
Seniors Jay Lape and Ellie Noe were recognized by the Board.
Lape has earned a 34 on his ACT test and is set to graduate Summa Cum Laude. He has taken several challenging courses such as AP Calculus, AP Government and AP World History. He will also graduate with several college credit hours. He has earned several honors and has been involved in many clubs and sports throughout high school. He is currently the Student Body Vice President. He is a member of FBLA, DECA, National Honors Society and he has been a member of the golf team. Lape attended Missouri Boys State this past summer. He plans to attend college to major in Film and Television Production/Studies and would one day like to work as a filmmaker and a successful director.
Noe is set to graduate Summa Cum Laude. She has earned an ACT score of 30. She has taken very challenging course work throughout high school such as AP/DC Chemistry, AP Literature, AP World History and AP Government. She will also graduate with several college credit hours. On top of her regular schedule this year, she is taking an online AP Calculus AB-A and a DC History course. She has been involved in Orchestra, Model UN, World Language Club, National Honor Society, FBLA, Student Council and Key Club. Her future plans are to attend Mississippi State and obtain early entry into the Pre-Veterinary Program and eventually return to the area to be a veterinarian.
